The team behind an innovative extra-care scheme has been presented with a pan-Wales award for excellence. K&C Construction, based in Kinmel Bay, scooped the Best Social / Affordable Housing Development accolade at the all-Wales LABC Awards final held at the Senedd in Cardiff recently.

K&C carried out the build of Llys y Coed, a £9m extracare scheme in Llanfairfechan for North Wales Housing based in Llandudno Junction. Llys y Coed is a mixed refurbishment and new build scheme comprising 46 self contained one and two bedroom apartments. The existing building (a former nursing home) has enjoyed a major renovation and overhaul, bringing it in line with the new structure, which are now linked via a glass walkway.

Chris White, Managing Director of K&C said; “We were obviously thrilled to have won the regional award but to now take first place in the all Wales final is fantastic. This really is an honour for us, we’re proud to have built this first class facility. After all, an accolade from Building Control speaks volumes for the quality we’ve achieved”.

Paul Diggory of North Wales Housing said: “Id like to congratulate our construction partners at Llys y Coed, K&C who have worked collaboratively with our team through the entire design and build process, producing a fantastic and important supported housing development. This is definitely a well deserved win for the entire K&C team.”
